Conference project management
A year of coordination.
One shared outcome.
Project Head
Year-long project coordination · 10-person team
I led the annual Sociology conference from planning through execution, coordinating a 10-person team over a year. The theme, “People Power and the Future: Navigating Life in a Changing Society”, anchored a conference that welcomed more than 500 attendees.
CHALLENGE
Funding was a major challenge, alongside the sustained coordination needed to keep a long-running project progressing across people with different working rhythms.
I maintained the overall plan, delegated responsibilities and followed up with the team throughout the planning period. I joined sponsor discussions when needed and helped coordinate setup, team arrival and programme flow on the day.
MY CONTRIBUTION
- Led the project’s overall direction, planning and team coordination over a year.
- Delegated tasks across a 10-person team and followed up to maintain progress.
- Supported sponsorship discussions when required as part of the wider team’s fundraising effort.
- Coordinated day-of execution, including setup, team arrival and programme flow.

RESULTS
Explore 7.0 welcomed more than 500 attendees—the highest attendance in the conference’s history. The wider team secured over ₦2.5 million in sponsorship support and delivered the year-long project through to execution.
WHAT I LEARNED
Long-term projects require patience and consistent follow-up. I learned to tailor delegation to different working speeds while keeping everyone focused on a shared outcome.
